Airbrushed make-up ads banned for 'misleading’

If you’ve watched the news today you would know that cosmetic adverts featuring airbrushed images of actress Julia Roberts and model Christy Turlington have been banned by the advertising watchdog. L'Oreal admitted retouching but denied that the two adverts were misleading.

As this was beauty related i thought it would be interesting to hear what you think aswell as mine. I believe you will never get a makeup advertisement that hasn't been airbrushed to some extent. I also think you will never see a mascara advert where the model doesn’t wear ‘last inserts.’ This drives me crazzzzzzy! If the mascara/foundation is so good why do they need to use these things? Its so misleading, and that's why i have so many products because you have to buy them to see what they are really like. Its giving beauty a false image.

Dying to know whether you all think the same as me? Please comment and let me know!

  1. I love this ban and totally agree with this. It is unfair to airbrush pictures so much and lead consumers into false beliefs about their products.
